Effects of Path Loss and Fringe User Distribution on Cdma Cellular Frequency Reuse Efficiency

چکیده
State University Blacksburg, VA 24061'-0111 This paper determines expressions which quantitatively describe the impact of path loss and user distribution on CDMA cellular radio system performance. Path ·ross in typical microcellular and cellular channels is shown to increase exponentially with distance to between the second and third power, as opposed to the commonly quoted fourth power law. Then, two performance measures, frequency reuse efficiency and bit error rate probability, are evaluated for CDMA cellular systems. Values for frequency reuse efficiency are derived for the uplink using different propagation rules and spatial distributions of subscribers in adjacent cells. Bit error rate probabilities as a function of the number of users are found for a two cell downlink model that assumes the subscriber is straddling the cell boundaries.

متن کاملDownlink site diversity with frequency-domain equalization for DS-CDMA cellular systems
Abstract In DS-CDMA high speed wireless signal transmissions, the transmission performance degrades due to frequency selective fading. The use of frequency-domain equalization (FDE) can significantly improve the transmission performance. However, the local average received signal power slowly varies due to distance-dependent path loss and shadowing loss according to the movement of a mobile use...
متن کاملMc/ds-cdma versus Sc/ds-cdma in Mobile Radio: Spectral Efficiency Approach
The spectral efficiency of a multicarrier direct-sequence code-division multiple-access (MC/DS-CDMA) cellular system operating in a mobile radio environment with Rayleigh fading, is investigated. In this work, spectral efficiency is evaluated in terms of channel capacity (in the Shannon sense) per user, estimated in an average sense. It is analytically shown that, under normalized conditions an...

In this contribution, the performance of a downlink code division multiple access (CDMA) system with orthogonal spreading and multicell interference is analyzed. A useful framework is provided in order to determine the optimal base station coverage for wireless frequency selective channels with dense networks where each user is equipped with a matched filter. Using asymptotic arguments, explici...
